Q: How long should I use the device for?
A: It depends completely upon the area being treated and the distance of treatment. For information on dosing, please see the previous page titled Dosing. In general, all that is usually needed is 10-20 minutes.
Q: When can I expect results?
A: Results vary depending on goals and treatment consistency. Many people experience benefits such as increased muscle recovery, relief of pain, and increased wound healing relatively quickly. Systemic benefits like enhanced skin health, increased energy, improved hormonal health, and better sleep quality may take 8-12 weeks of consistent use. Daily use maximizes the rate of response and healing. Consistency is very important with red light therapy.
Q: Should I wear eye protection?
A: Eye protection is not required or necessary. However, we don’t recommend looking directly at the LEDs as it can sometimes be uncomfortable. Over time, your eyes will typically adjust, and it will be fine to open your eyes, as long as there is no discomfort.
Q: Does red light therapy interfere with medications?
A: Red and near-infrared light therapy has been proven in clinical studies and trials to be both safe and effective. However, if you use medications like Tetracycline, Digoxin, Retin A, or other photosensitizing drugs, consult your doctor before using the device.
Q: Why aren’t the Infrared LEDs working?
A: Near-infrared (NIR) light is not visible to the naked eye as it is outside the visual spectrum. However, in dark conditions, a very slight glow can sometimes be seen from the LEDs. If concerned, test the LEDs in a dark environment.
Q: Can children use the device?
A: Yes, children can use the device under adult supervision. However, it should not be used on infants. Children over 12 years can follow the standard treatment times. For those under 12, use half the dose.
Q: Can I wear clothing during my treatment sessions?
A: Of course, but make sure the area being treated is completely exposed.
